The church in Streamwood, Illinois is the outgrowth and spread of the church in Chicago, which first met in 1970. In 1979, several families moved to northwestern metropolitan Chicago and began to have home meetings and pray for that area of the city. In 1980, with the help of the church in Chicago, a meeting hall was purchased in Hanover Park, and about fifty believers began to meet as the church there.
Over the last twenty years, the church, previously located in Hanover Park, IL., encouraged several believers to move to other localities to either strengthen a church or to establish new local churches. The believers have also sent brothers to visit and strengthen local churches in a other areas.
Eventually, there appeared to be a need for a larger meeting hall, and one was found in the community of Streamwood, about ten minutes from the previous meeting hall. This move was made in 1999 and seems to have been blessed by the Lord, as we are seeing new believers added to the church. There are home meetings where the believers are able to have intimate fellowship and mutual shepherding. There has been a strong desire within the church to gain more people for the kingdom of God, and much prayer is offered up concerning this. The Lord has gained endurance in many of the believers to labor and shepherd people into the church, in some cases spending more than five years. One of the most rewarding aspects of shepherding has been the return to the church of some who have been gone for over fifteen years.
We are also very concerned for our next generation and have young people’s meetings weekly. We are very clear that the Lord has committed these young ones to us for the future of His interests.
Our Lord’s Day meeting is focused on reaching unbelievers and on educating the believers in the truth of the Word. We are very desirous of not only learning the truth, but also of putting into practice exactly what the Word of God reveals to us concerning Christ and the church. We practice eldership church government and believe in the function of every member in our meetings. In our meetings we enjoy the ministry of the Word backed up by the rich experiences shared by the believers. Every believer is encouraged to share in every meeting. We welcome all whom the Lord has received. We have several Spanish speakers in our meetings, and we meet together with simultaneous translation
Our goal is five-fold: to perfect every man in Christ, to be conformed to the Image of Christ, to be fruitful and multiply for the spreading of the “true Vine” to other localities, to subdue Satan, and to bring the Lord back. We are praying to reach out and gain new believers and then to send out ones who are solid in the vision of God's Economy, who are willing to be "buried" that more seeds would be produced, to spread to other localities establishing new churches in the metro area. Therefore, our efforts are not directed toward building up a large number in one place, but toward increasing the Lord’s testimony in many new places.
What we believe
We hold the faith which is common to all the believers:
(Titus 1:4, Jude 3)
The Bible is the complete divine revelation inspired word by word by God through the Holy Spirit
(2 Pet. 1:21, 2 Tim. 3:16)
God is uniquely one, yet triune — the Father, the Son, and the Spirit (1 Tim. 2:5a, Matt. 28:19)
The Son of God, even God Himself, was incarnated to be a man by the name of Jesus Christ (John 1:1, John 1:14)
Christ died on the cross for our sins, shedding His blood for our redemption (1 Pet. 2:24, Eph. 1:7a)
Christ resurrected from among the dead on the third day (1 Cor. 15:4)
Christ ascended to the right hand of God to be Lord of all
(Acts 1:9, Acts 2:33, Acts 2:36)
Whenever any person repents to God and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, he is regenerated (born again) and becomes a living member of the one Body of Christ (Acts 20:21, John 3:3, Eph. 1:22-23, Rom. 12:5)
Christ is coming again to receive His believers to Himself
(1 Thes. 2:19)
All meetings at the Hall are cancelled until 4/5/20. We encourage all the saints to meet day by day, "house to house" to pray, fellowship, & eat together with thanksgiving.
